Hotel coucou

Titisee, Black Forest, Germany

From the coucou Hotel am Titisee you can see the beautiful Black Forest fir trees, which extend on the hills and mountains around the property.

The special feature of the hotel is the urban style in combination with the historic, listed station building. The mixture makes the coucou so unique: Guests can look forward to a fresh, contemporary interpretation of the Black Forest, far away from the dusty Black Forest lace ceilings. The furnishings in the rooms are made of warm oak that meets black metal. 22 of the 45 rooms are located in the new building, which provides additional modernity through large windows and corridors from the exposed balcony. The fabric of the rooms in the old building was largely preserved, such as the old beams, historic doors and stairs.

In December 2019, the Broscheit family opened the hotel after being entranced by the architectural rough diamond and its location. Because a good connection to the public transport network was a prerequisite for the married couple Johanna and Dietmar Broscheit, who already run other hotels. The Bellini Group Freiburg, which the couple co-founded, supported her in implementing her plans.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe historic and listed station building, which has been carefully renovated, is a special architectural feature. The expansion and renovation was carried out entirely in cooperation with craft firms from the region. As far as possible, regional material was used. Most of the patio furniture has been made by upcycling ourselves.

FoodThe host couple founded the Kuckucksstuben Franchise GmbH in cooperation with the Hochschwarzwald Tourismus GmbH. This has set itself the task of offering high-quality Black Forest specialties with centrally produced food and counteracting the dying of restaurants and the shortage of skilled workers in the region. The Kuckucksstube works closely with local producers to guarantee an authentic local kitchen experience. The breakfast is partly organic, the coffee comes from fair trade. The cheese spaetzle and the burgers with regional beef from species-appropriate husbandry are the absolute top sellers. Together with the tarte flambée manufactory, we developed our own tarte flambée, which is also well received by guests. Intolerance is gladly taken into account. The menu also includes vegetarian dishes.

EnvironmentWater-saving fittings have been installed in the hotel, waste separation is carried out and when it comes to the choice of cleaning agents, quality takes priority over quantity. The couple is upcycling and there is a cosmetics line that relies on Fairtrade. An intelligent heating system is in operation so as not to waste energy. The hotel's digital guest directory can be used to cancel room cleaning during the stay so that resources are only used when they are necessary. All guests receive the KONUS guest card, with which they can travel by bus and train for free. The infrastructure for this is right on the doorstep.

Well-BeingThe coucou hotel offers a beautiful wellness area with a view of the Black Forest, a sauna and a steam bath. There is a boulder wall on the roof terrace; On the ground floor, the experts from Sportivo Fitness and Reha have set up a great fitness studio with individual support, which hotel guests can visit at a special price. In the surrounding area, it is worth visiting the Titisee, which is only a five-minute walk away, but the more distant destinations in the Black Forest are also worth visiting. Guests can visit a high ropes course, start hikes right outside the front door and try stand-up paddling on the Windgälleweiher.
