Gut Wendgräben

Brandenburg, Brandenburg, Germany

In the absolute tranquility of a nature reserve, surrounded by fields, forests and lakes, Gut Wendgräben is an island of calm. In the lush and spacious inner courtyard, everyone will find a cozy spot: those looking for peace and quiet in a deck chair or hammock, children on the playground with a large sandpit, swing and table tennis table, or for a picnic under the apple tree. In addition to the inner courtyard, guests from the 10 different holiday apartments can also enjoy the sight of wild geese and rabbits passing by, as well as the sunrise over the surrounding fields.

Behind the family business Gut Wendgräben are Hanna and Stefan Hasenbank. The two married on the farm in 2016 and finally decided to take it over in 2018. Both were ready for a change and privately they were already happy to host. This is how they fulfilled their dream of creating a place in nature where they can bring like-minded people and their families together. The seclusion and at the same time easy accessibility and proximity to Berlin are the perfect mix for them.

Well Wendgräben in Brandenburg is a feeling. First and foremost, the court means freedom for the hosts. You want to give your guests a certain lightness: relaxation for the eyes, for the mind and for the head. Although the courtyard seems perfect, it remains a lively place with always something to do. This is exactly what inspires the hosts and allows for an interplay of modernity and history.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe oldest building on the site was built around 1740 and originally there was a sheep farm. In the end, the manor was used to cultivate the adjacent fields before it was carefully renovated, piece by piece, over almost three decades. The entire property is a listed building and wooden beams, facades and old cobblestones are reminiscent of earlier times. A lush flowering courtyard is framed by a brick barn, the half-timbered stable and the manor house. The renovation took place mainly with the help of regional partners and suppliers. We always try not to throw anything away, but rather to get creative: antique furniture is reconditioned, new things are created from wood. With fresh shapes, colors and antiques, modernity and tradition meet with great attention to detail and form the framework for guests to relax.

FoodThe holiday apartments on the estate are designed for self-catering. Guests can also help themselves to the fresh herbs in the garden. For events, a catering partner is called in, who mostly uses regional products. For smaller events, the hosts arrange a partner who offers vegetarian and vegan catering. If there is leftover food at events, it is passed on to local farmers as animal feed.

The hosts strive to live a family atmosphere. For this reason, the permanent employees come from the region. Trust, mutual respect and loyalty can be described as guiding values for cooperation. The management style is sometimes a bit unconventional, whereby the top priority is always that everyone feels comfortable and enjoys doing their work. In addition, an attempt is made to give employees a feeling of security.

EnvironmentIn the holiday apartments, guests can expect a cover letter that draws attention to environmental issues and also gives advice on how to separate waste properly. A solar system supports the hot water preparation and electricity is generated via the photovoltaic system. There is a biological wastewater treatment plant in which the wastewater is treated again and returned to the water cycle. Well water is used to water the garden and ecological cleaning agents are used.

Well-BeingThere is a sauna in the manor and massages can be booked with partners. These then come to the farm ... The Havelland also offers the opportunity to hike, cycle and practice water sports.
