The peace and seclusion of the Estrella Montés are unique - a magical place in the middle of a cultural landscape that is thousands of years old. It is not an investment property, as there are thousands of them in the Algarve, but an incomparable place with charm and history. Here, in the hinterland of the Algrave, you can experience typical Portuguese country life and yet it is not far to the beautiful sandy and rocky beaches. And because the property is located in the central Algarve, it is a maximum of 45 minutes to the Spanish border in the east and just as long to the wild, rugged rocky coast in the west. Ideal, then, to discover the Algarve as a whole.
The original, typically Portuguese quinta (farmhouse, stable, tool shed and bakehouse) is over 100 years old. Starting in the 1980s, it was gradually expanded and remodeled, always retaining the original architecture.
Incidentally, the owners were not looking for their property. She more or less came to them. When they were guests here a few years ago, they fell in love immediately and, shortly after, when the house happened to be for sale, they bought it.
The three holiday homes of the property are designed very differently. While Villa Stofero is spacious and typically Portuguese, furnished with antiques, art and paintings as well as Santa Catarina floors, Casa Saudade has a modern design - bright, with architect charm and new Santa Catarina floors. Casa Rosa, the property's original tool shed, is a cozy holiday home with a fireplace.
It's really bearable here: numerous (roof) terraces, hammocks and outdoor beds for sleeping in the open air make your stay a really relaxing experience.

ArchitectureDuring the conversion and renovation of the villa, the original architecture was retained and some old stone stairs were moved inside. The bar is in the original bakery, the oven can still be fired and can be used as a pizza oven. Local materials have always been used in the renovations, especially the beautiful Santa Catarina tiles.
EnvironmentThe energy generation in the Villa Stofero is self-sufficient and works via solar panels. The water comes from our own well/borehole. In order to reduce plastic waste, there is also a separate filter system for the water, so that everyone can safely drink it as tasty drinking water. This eliminates the need to buy water in plastic bottles. At check-in and in the guest books, guests are also informed about sustainability measures. At the same time, they are made aware of the need for a resource-saving holiday, as water in particular has become an increasingly scarce commodity in the Algarve. The separate waste is disposed of for the guests, organic waste is composted on the property.
Well-BeingVilla Stofero has its own sauna and pool. There is also a collaboration with a therapist who can come to the house for massages on request. There is also a yoga retreat for Zen meditation and fasting within walking distance. Apart from that there is excellent walking, swimming, diving, surfing, golfing or cycling in the area around the holiday homes - there is nothing that cannot be found in the Algarve.
