Casa Stella di Ostuni

Ostuni, Apulia, Italy

The beautiful Apulia on the heel of Italy impresses above all with its wonderful colors: the blue sea, the green olive trees and the whitewashed houses. The "Casa Stella di Ostuni" is located in the historic old town of Ostuni (Città bianca) and offers a fantastic view over the city to the sea.

Hostess Dorothea Schuster is a real cosmopolitan and has worked in international hotels in Europe and America for many years. Today she lives in her favorite country Italy and can take care of her guests individually in her two accommodations. This personal contact and a relaxed atmosphere are particularly important to her.

The spacious Casa is freshly renovated and extends over three levels. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a large terrace. The interior is very elegant and tastefully decorated in the colors of the region: high-quality wooden floors, modern lounge furniture, beautiful ceramics, stylish lamps and an antique teak dining table that invites you to have dinner together. Regional delicacies such as olives, zucchini blossoms or orecchiette can be bought everywhere and taste great.

The "Casa Stella di Ostuni" bears its name because the starry vault is not only an architectural feature, but also provides a very special feeling of space. The architecture in the region, with its thick stone walls and high ceilings, ensures a pleasant coolness and airiness all year round. After a restful sleep and morning coffee on the terrace, you can plan your vacation day in a relaxed manner. Apulia has a lot to offer in terms of landscape, culture and cuisine. And Ostuni, with its picturesque little streets, excellent restaurants and the breeze from the sea, is the perfect starting point for exploring with a real Dolce Vita feeling.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe house is over three hundred years old. The structures were preserved during the renovation. Water, electricity and sanitary facilities were renewed with local employees and companies. Most of the furniture is from Ostuni or individually assembled at regional antique markets. The ceramics were specially made for the Casa in Grottaglie, where particularly beautiful ceramics have been produced for centuries.

The owner is involved in a number of local dog projects and has taken in three dogs herself. So dogs are very welcome here.

EnvironmentSince the house is in the old town, it is connected to the water system, which is said to be partly still attached to the old Roman aquaducts. In Ostuni there is waste separation. The soap for guests and the cleaning products are organic. There is only central air conditioning in the living room, but the old walls keep the temperature comfortable most of the time.
