Bollwerk

Bonndorf im Schwarzwald, Black Forest, Germany

The Bollwerk holiday home is located in the middle of the small Black Forest town of Boll near Bonndorf. The owners are Christian and Kerstin Weltin with their three daughters. They bought and renovated the over 200-year-old farmhouse in 2022, making a dream come true.

Their goal: to create a holiday home in which you can feel at home on holiday and in which families in particular have everything they need. For years, the two of them have been looking for authentic and stylish facilities that will make their holidays perfect. Having children made this even more important. Kerstin herself comes from a family of hoteliers and together with Christian she has put her heart and soul into decluttering, painting walls, renovating bathrooms, installing a new kitchen and furnishing the rooms in the house.

On about 100 square meters you live comfortably and comfortably in the Bollwerk. The light-flooded farmhouse parlor impresses with its old wooden ceiling, which stretches crooked and crooked across the entire room and is reminiscent of times long past. Especially on cold days, when the fire in the fireplace crackles quietly, the traditional "tile art" invites you to linger. In the adjoining dining room there is a large table that can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people for eating, talking or playing cards The two bedrooms are equipped with comfortable beds, the new kitchen has everything you need to cook together and the wellness-style bathroom has underfloor heating and a rain shower. For those who work from home, there is also a small, bright office with a desk The interior of the house is a mixture of purism and tradition, with everything in muted, natural tones.

The entrance to the wild and romantic Wutach Gorge is only a few minutes' walk from the house. Here you can immerse yourself in an overwhelming primeval landscape with deep gorges and unspoilt forests, which were created over thousands of years by the Wutach and its tributaries. Many hiking trails run through the gorge and each tour offers special highlights and unforgettable wall experiences. In the bulwark you will find a guest folder in which Kerstin and Christian have described the most beautiful hikes, among other things.

Sustainable

ArchitectureThe more than 200 year old farmhouse is partly still in its original condition (ground floor). During the renovation work in the kitchen and bathroom, great importance was attached to using natural materials such as wood and stone. The tiles in the bathroom and the worktops in the kitchen are made of Jura marble from Nuremberg, and local wood was meticulously handcrafted by a carpenter friend for the doors and a kitchen island. Many pieces of furniture were bought second hand and partly extensively renovated.
